Hi all, long time lurker on the form here. I have bought a 1990 80 Series.

This vehicle started life in Japan, and was a grey import to the UK in 2004. On the V5 it shows the "date of first registration" as 2004 which is not correct. In order to register the vehicle in Ireland I need to know the actual date of manufacture, or date of first registration in Japan. This would be some time during 1990.

I have contacted Toyota Ireland - they cant tell me.
I have contacted Toyota UK - they cant tell me.
I have contacted Toyota Japan - they wont tell me because of GDPR / don't support export of vehicles etc. a number of excuses.

Anyone one have any idea how to tell from the engine number, VIN number etc.?

Thanks
Pat

When I was importing Surfs I used .Bimta

Aside from providing members with legal and practical advice on imports and exports from the UK, BIMTA offers the general public mileage checks and background checks on imports along with Dating Certifcates

I seem to remember seeing a date stamped on one of  the seat belt labels?  This was on a German version, it was not the belt date manufacture but the date of registration.

regards

Dave

If no-one will tell you, then presumably no-one will tell the Irish registration authorities either. Make something up...?  Wink
