Hi,

I need to put a new rad in.

To do that it seems like a simple job unbolting it disconnecting and reconnecting hoses etc..

But how to I get the viscous fan off? Is there a way of stopping the fan turning when I try and undo the 4 bolts that hold it on ?

Apologies if that's a dumb question.

Cheers,

I'm not sure if you need to remove the fan to replace, but if you do the nuts can be loosened by putting pressure on the fan belts to hold the pulley, also another way is to hold one of the other nuts with another spanner putting pressure in the other direction, problem is that your left with one tight one, then just hit the spanner to loosen it.

Also do a serach on youtube, I found this one which is similar RAD.

Agree with Andy. I don't remember it being a problem to remove the fan and I'm not sure it's necessary to replace the rad. However if you do remove it, it's a good opportunity to replace the oil in the viscous fan too (threads on here I think documenting how to do it and other people's experiences).

Thanks very much for the help - plan A is to do it without taking out the rad.

I need to replace the ATF fluid too.

Does it have a drain plug or do you have to take the whole pan off ?

Cheers,
