I was driving through Ireland this week in my 2004 Landcruiser when the suspension collapsed and the car was left lurching around. The control system for height was not operating and we had to limp home to my parents house in Kerry.
When we got there we found that the air suspension was deflated and there was no air coming through the compressor.
Fearing the worst we thought we were going to be buying a new compressor and air bags or alternatively we thought about stripping out the air bags and installing coils instead.
However we got under the car and found that the off side rear height suspension arm was broken, the sensor arm was hanging loose.
We fashioned a new L bracket and re-attached the sensor arm and thankfully the air suspension came back on line.
So far so good.
The bracket between arm and sensor had corroded away.
