All,

My lwb 1997 central section exhaust where the silencer is rattles at idle. As soon as the rpm raises or lower slightly then the rattle is gone. I have checked the rubber mounts they seem on.  If I pressed the silencer section with hand (glove on)  the rattle immediately go away. Same as if I pushed the silencer section slightly sideway. The exhaust looks like an aftermarket one, replaced by the previous owner just before I got the car.

Is there anything I missed here? Does the original exhaust section comes with exhaust weight?

My genuine one has a bit of a buzz at idle when its cold....

I think it may actually be just engine mounts/exhaust mounts being a bit tired/softer than new.  It doesn't do it enough to bother me at the moment, but I can sympathise, stops if you just touch the exhaust.

You might find a new set of the rubber exhaust mounts stops it - they aren't mega money, or perhaps a bit of manipulation (denting) the large middle silencer, but do this at your own risk lol.

Thanks for the reply, I will swap a new set of rubber mounts and see how things go...

Nice Diagram on the Roughtrax site

https://www.roughtrax4x4.com/toyota-4x4-parts/exhausts/mounts-brackets.html

(dont know if the link will work if you haven't selected your vehicle?)

Or I suspect any exhaust place/auto parts will have them as they are pretty standard...
