My dashboard lit up with ABS and the usual warning lights.  Speedo also stopped working.  Plugged it into the laptop and it pointed to a problem with the front LH ABS sensor.
As per usual it came off on bits but I've managed to get the remains out and I'm just waiting on the new one to arrive.

2 questions-
1.  I cleaned inside the hole where the sensor fits but was surprised to see no toothed wheel through the hole.  Looks like it picks up directly off the CV outer casing.  Is this correct?
2.  Is there any shim between the sensor and the hub?  The bolt sheared and I had to persuade the sensor out with a little chisel.  So everything got a bit chewed up.

ABS ring is built into the hub bearing assembly. If you look for replacement wheel bearings you'll see they come in "with" and "without" ABS versions.

Sensor just bolts to the upright. No shim.

Cheers Sheepish.

I ordered a ABS sensor from e bay.  Got a message saying it was posted.  Then another message late in the day to say I was getting a refund!  Apparently they were out of Stock!  Then remove the listing dumb ass!
I ordered another from another supplier.  Exactly the same thing so I think they are the same seller.

Ordered another.  Fingers crossed.

Have you tried Roughtrax for sensor, they have genuine and after market ones.

I had a look at Roughtrax.  They were about 50 quid.  Milners were cheaper.  e bay were about 12 quid.  A bit of a risk with e bay but I thought I'd take a punt!
