Hi All - a bit of electrical trivia! I am trying to replace the Parking Light bulbs that are part of the headlamp unit. My Handbook shows one self-tapper holding the indicator light unit in place and then....the indicator lens/lamp simply slides out so you can easily get at the parking light bulb holder behind it! Except that when I remove the self-tapper the indicator light unit certainly becomes loose but won't move forward for removal. It seems to pivot on a plastic tongue which is right at the inside base of the indicator light unit. Although the tongue waggles about in its plastic stirrup it won't slide out (did use some WD40 with no luck) and I don't want to break the plastic fitment using brute force. Am I missing something or is this just an age/crud syndrome? TIA.

Hi I don't know with the 2001 model but with mine there is one screw that you remove and then the indicator unit just pulls out(towards the front)

Hmmm....thought it should be that simple! I will wait and see if the WD40 soak works - if not I will take out the battery and try from inside the bulkhead. And thanks for your thoughts.

Sorted! The only positive fixing is the self-tapper visible on the top of the unit next to the batteries (as expected). The hassle is with the lower plastic tongue which locates the indicator unit as you replace it. On its end it has a raised plastic sprag which pushes thru (by flexing the tongue) the plastic stirrup it locates in. The problem is this sprag stops easy removal unless you sort of slightly twist the unit outwards until this sprag is 'flexed' into the stirrup. Once you do this - simples! A slight warning - this tongue is HARD plastic so don't twist it too fast or hard - some WD40 should help. I have filed these sprags off so the tongues slide easily - the self-tapper on top will locate & stop the unit dropping out in any case.
