Hi guys,

I have watched a few videos on youtube of clogged intake manifolds on diesel engines.  EGR SYSTEM PROBLEMS

I have a 1997 Colorado with about 185k miles on the clock.  The Engine runs fine no problems and the LC is well cared for ..

I just wondered if any body could advise me  if any problems may be waiting in the future.  Engine is the 3 ltr turbo charged

Thanks in advance

Regards

Paul     West Midlands UK....

Probably not, but some people are zealous is promoting the removal/blanking of EGR valves. Even though it just doesn't seem to crop up as a 1kz-te issue, I find the arguments fairly persuasive and it's unlikely to cause any harm so I have disconnected mine (stopped short of full blanking, which is a faff). You need to be relatively sure that the valve is opening and closing correctly (is the engine running well?). Then when the engine's cold and turned off and the valve should be shut just remove the vacuum actuator hoses or block them somehow. It will remain closed and not recirculate any of the nasty exhaust gases back into the inlet.
