If you are to disconnect it , you will get a warning light on the dash for the traction control and stability control , do come mot time I advise you to reconnect it for the lights to go out so as not to fail mot . But best thing to do is get it fixed .

Hi guys

Sounds preculiar but the EGR valve can cause VSC, TRC & ABS to have faults but isn't a direct fault to them, get your EGR  checked to ascertain if it is blocked or just faulty

Thanks for all your help. The final outcome was that the brake/esp  ecu was faulty so it did not flag up a fault, store faults or shut down safe. Somewhat alarming this can happen although it is very rare - never happen on my S3 Landrover!
