Oh Well , In for a penny in for a pound , 2 new engine mounts and 1 new gearbox mount ordered from Roughtrax
Also a set of 3 wiper blades and a oil filter ,
Had a bit of a result yet again at the boot sale last Saturday , 2, 5ltr can's of 10/40 full synthetic engine oil £10 each  Very Happy
Winter is on it's way so a new set of blades won't do any harm
Get the mounts sorted then time for new shocks and rubbers , roll bar's etc , see if it's a bit less floppy ( like a jelly ) when driving  Laughing

Presumably it IS the engine mounts that are shot then, and the cause of the donk donk, as you're doing all now ?

Oil is cheap, what brand is it, or can't you read the Chinese writing ? 😀

Just put 3 Bosch blades on the 120, made a lot of difference, even though I wouldn't call the others *beep*, so you will benefit from the swap there with winter coming on.

Same here with rear shocks, ARB bushes, and drop links, in stock here and ready to go, all from Roughtrax. Been on the cards for several weeks now, even though straight through mot last week. No problems as such, just rubber areas looking perished.
All weather dependant now.

Good luck with the mounts, Al, not the easiest of jobs, but not the worst. 👍

As I see it it must be the engine moving around that has caused the gearbox mount to detach again.
If it's not then 2 new mounts won't do any harm and will not break the bank .
Not looking forward to doing the job due to old age creeping up ( as it does ) .
Just hope I dont fail and have a half dismantled 4x4 stuck in my drive  Confused

Yes, engine mounts can be the only possibility really, especially with the 'new' gearbox mount failing too.
I know the feeling with old age mate, knees and back complaining, but just plan in your head what/how you will attack it, and plod on at a steady pace with plenty of tea, preferably made by someone else ! 😀
Amongst your many tools you have the engine hoist and the railway jacks, those two alone invaluable for what you're doing, just keep an eye on pipes, wires, exhaust (may have to disconnect) along with the other parts you previously mentioned, and the angle of the prop as you raise the engine enough to swap the mounts out.
Also give all the nuts and bolts on the parts you have to remove a good dosing of plus gas or similar, a day or two ahead of work, which will hopefully ease any old seized bits.
An aerosol of freezer can work wonders too, in areas you cant get heat to, for particularly stubborn nuts and bolts.
No failures Al, you can do it, and some good people on here for advice, IF you get stuck
Good luck ! 👍

Re the oil I got from the boot sale it is actually 5/40 VTC ( Vauxhall trade club )
On e bay it's £24.95 per 5ltr
Not bad at £10 each
