A recent blowout has prompted me to consider changing all the tyres on my W reg Colorado 3.0 TD Auto.  The current tyres are BF Goodrich Longtrails 235/70 R16.  BFG no longer do the Longtrails and I'm thinking of going with the BFG A/T's for their all round capability.  What I'd like to know is if I can up the size slightly on my existing rims to 265/70's.  My mechanic says that because its an Auto thsi might not be a good idea because the ratios would have been set for the 235/70's.  What difference might I expect and are there any saftey concerns?
Thanks for any advice.  Marty.

Hi Marty

Your mecanic is right it will make a diffrence, but if you went for 265/65 then it should be ok, or poss 245/70

THe only problem with going for a lower profile is if you do off-roading could be a problem to the rims

I have BFG A/T's and they are fine on a 100
