|
|
Evening, found my side mirror heaters not working the other day, anyway I assumed it would be the wiring loom in the door shut maybe a broken wire had popped the fuse as they didn't switch on at all..
Anyway fuse OK relay tested OK, power to switch etc, both bulbs in the switch OK (yes there are two little removable and replaceable bulbs in twist holders in the top of the switch (one for the illumination, one to light up when heaters are on).
All OK.
Anyway noticed you can unclip the switch and slide it apart into two halves.... as I did this a tiny little splint of plastic fell out. luckily was going careful half expecting a spring to fire out. but it opens up lovely, very nicely made with greese in all the right places etc. BUT
there is a little copper fork that slides across the circuit board as you press the switch, its cranked and clips into the sliding bit, but only held by a little tab on the plastic. anyway it had broken and wasn't moving.
I superglued it back into place and made a strip of thin plastic also super glued over the top to reinforce it, and its all working perfect again.
Just one to watch for. I'll drop some pics on here. |

You will need to copy the entire URL as this forum doesn't like the OneDrive format either
(Even if wrapped with the URL tags)
