I have an 04 Prado which has just failed its MOT due to inner wing corrosion in way of the ABS unit. On the other wing we have an advisory for the same thing in way of the fuse box. I am about to try to move the ABS unit slightly to put a new sheet of metal under it and weld it on - which is bound to be a pig of a job because I don't want to disturb this ABS thing. I think I would spend my life trying to get the brakes working again if I just removed the pipes etc? Does anybody out there have experience of trying to move this ABS unit and might recommend the best approach?

If you have techstream, isn't there a brake bleeding program included?   Which will operate the pump and purge the ABS unit and the rest of the system whilst you open the valves in the sequence required.

Luckily I have been able to unbolt the ABS unit from the inner wing without disconnecting it  and "ease" it across a couple of inches, sufficient for me to clean up and do the necessary welding. Phew!

Thankyou for your advice - but I dont have the techy tool you refer to. I keep thinking about buying one though...

Well done Ibex.

Techstream is great, and cheap, but i had to get an IT guy to set it up for me because no way could i get it to connect to the car, he sorted it in minutes, i confess to being about as much use as a cow with a gun with tech.
