Looking at buying a Lancruiser 80 for an expedition from London to Sydney, we are emigratting to Australia and want to import the vehicle in. In regards to Jap imports is there much difference between them and U.K models and also does anyone know if easy to get parts etc once in Australia for a jap model? Planning on driving through Northern Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Mongolia, China, vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore then ship vehicle over to Darwin!! Anyone done similar trip and has advice would be greatly appreciated? |

Hi
differences between uk cars and Jap imports is Uk cars have centre front and rear diffs, most Jap cars only have the centre diff.
Also most Jap cars have 5 seats, Uk 7.
Parts are basically the same, and will be alm,ost identical Uk, Jap, Oz.
Spent my time in Africa, but don't think you should have any problems with your route, that I know of - except China very difficult and expensive to get visa's.
Check out www.horizonsunlimited.com for more travel info.
Where are you, and when do you plan purchasing your vehicle - may be able to help
Regards
Chris

been round the world on a motorbike (80+ countries so far)and just got back from london, arctic, crimea with our amazon.
southside to calcutta takes in fantastic sights and an easy route to s.e asia and easy seasons.northside (from ukraine) gives you sights with unnending freedom and horizons.china requires very large fees to enter and cross and vietnam may not be possible, and last i heard burma was a total no.possible to boat russia, japan, asia.
all the best
