Have an Amazon 1998 VX 4.2 with a torque converter lockup problem. As soon as I reach 38mph and the throttle angle is correct, lockup engages as it should. At higher speeds, say 50mph, with foot off the throttle the lockup disengages on the overrun as it should, but as soon as I start to press the throttle and reach the correct throttle angle again the lockup immediately re-engages. Problem is that the car is travelling at 50mph, but the engine revs only equate to 40mph, so the car lurches as the lockup engages. Car does this every time at any speed over 38mph. To date we have no faults reported on the computer, but we have changed the oil twice, fitted a brand new torque converter and replaced all the solenoid valves in the valve chest and we still have the problem. Our next move is to monitor the oil pressure in the box. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. |
