Hi Guys, picked up a spare alarm fob for 20 on e-bay. Happy with thereprogramming process, but looked behind glove box and no sign of any alarm ECU. Before I start pulling the dash off, are there other 'popular places' that they positioned it? Anyone got a photo of what it looks like?

Genuine UK Colorado 97/98 SWB.

Thanks

LC

Not much idea but it could be under dash by right knee or under drivers seat.

Found it. Behind the radio. The little black box under the steering wheel panel is the sensitivity adjustment not the actual alarm control on mine.
Managed to wipe my existing fob! Nice one. Back to the instructions I think.

Well that's sorted. You press the reset, the little LED on the dash lights up and you press both buttons at once on the remote (ignition has to be on). It would appear that you can do one blipper at once. Reseting the master doesn't wipe the ones you've already done.

Tricky to find mind you. Hidden behind a metal shield. I just bent it out of the way, did the reset and bent it back.

How did you know you had a TVSS alarm?

I ask cos I've just bought another remote fob, and am wondering if I've got the right one!!!

Simply because there is a thread on here somewhere about the tvss alarm. Someone posted a pic of the fob. There aren't any visible clues on the block box.

Just like to say a BIG thank you to Landcrusher for the instructions in this thread.

I have a '98 Colorado with the TVSS alarm and when I bought it a couple of weeks ago, I got both fobs but neither worked. Have had time today to pull centre dash out and found the ecu. Have just using the instructions and both fobs now work perfectly! Very Happy

A little note, you need to press the reset button for about 2 secs to get the LED to come on.

Thanks

Hey Boghopper, you are very very welcome my friend. I do post a lot of stuff on here and some of it may look like the ramblings of a complete nut, but occasionally there's a little gem in there. The more we take these things apart and put 'em back together, the bigger the library of stuff there is for people to use. There are some really helpful people on here who know shed loads about the Toyota product.

Glad it's all working for you now.

Landcruiser.

I  found the blackbox box. Just to confirm. I need to bend the metal plate out of the way. It is hard metal to bend. Just want ot make  sure I'm bending the right plate.

It cover the connection in the front?

Regards

Yes, it's not that thick but I found that I had to bend it rather than take it off. I couldn't find a way to avoid that.

Well done on finding it by the way!
