Hi every one,

this might be a difficult question, or a simple one for the more knowledgeable among us.

I have a 2005 land Cruiser 120 series.

It is a UK version, and as such it does not need the "day time running lights"

I am in Scandinavia now, and it is law to drive any time of the day with driving lights on, I see other Land Cruisers with them coming on automatically.

At the moment, I have to remember to turn them on manually. Which is difficult, when the sun is shining, as it is not normal for me.

Is there a relay, (or 2) that can be bought and plugged in, to make this feature automatic.

I had a Corvette before this, and it was simply plug the 2 relays in, or pull 'em out, for day time running lights or not.

Is there a fix for the Land Cruiser, (Lexus LX 470 in USA) or does it have to go in to the dealership ?

Graham

Found this on the TOC forum  DRL

Also not sure if you are interested there is a guy selling LC 120 spoilers in the Cruiser section.

Another thing that I have found is that it might just be a case of fitting a fuse in the correct slot, seems that Toyota fitted the basics in newer vehicles but just left the fuse out in countries that dont need the lights.

This is a bit off topic but has anybody else found that in the 120 section you cant edit your own post's

I would take the LC to Toyota in Oslo, as they are standard delivered with this option in the Scandinavian countries. Mine had this feature from new, and there dosn't seem to be any "add on" relay under the bonnet.

Regards

By the way, I would visit Arctic Truck while in Oslo, they do wonders to the LandCruisers. Check at http://www.arctictrucks.no/
or http://www.arctictrucks.com/

Hello Arne,

Thanks for the information on the Day time Running lights.

I will look to see where the Toyota, or a Toyota dealer is here in Oslo.

I am just in Linderud, which is aprox 10km north of Oslo Sentrum

Hello every one,

I went to Toyota Oslo yesterday (Saturday) it turns out it is just about 2 miles from where I live here.
Any way, the guy in parts dept. was very helpful, i explained I needed DRL, as I had drove from UK to Norway, and this was a UK optioned vehicle.

He immediately mentioned I would need an additional relay.

He didn't know which one, but gave the the business card of the garage foreman.
he told me he can tell me just what I need when i phone him on Monday.

Turning the lights on and off by hand isn't that much of a problem - when you remember -

Perhaps something just doesn't click with me to put lights on on a good bright day !

I just hope this "relay" can be fitted by myself, and that it ain't "sky-high" prices, like everything here in Norway.
