Have any one done some travelling/laning/off-roading in the Pyrenees around Lourdes in the Pyrenees National Park or in Switzerland around Interlaken? Question
I’ve got maps of the areas but it’s only 1:200 000 scale, I saw some winding little roads near some of the highest peaks, but was wondering if some one know of any other that will be nice to drive and experience the beautiful views. Smile

I know there are companies such as Land Treks and others but they are ridiculous expensive………. Mad

Hi,

I think you'll have much more joy in the Pyrenees, off roading in Switzerland is more or less entirely 'verboten', even some minor tarmac roads have tight restrictions on them for motorised traffic.

The Pyrenees, in particular the Spanish side, is much more relaxed. I've got a couple of links that might be of interest but I can't post them here - a forum anti-spam measure. If you google 'Vibraction' (in French but you'll find your way around) or 'Pyrenees roadbook' you'll find them.

Have a great trip wherever you end up,
All the best,
Toby

try here : http://pagesperso-orange.fr/vibraction/cadre-accueil.htm

the pyrenees might be my next summer holiday depending on if there's a ferry to iceland from the UK. the only fly in the ointment is having to drive 850 miles from my house to plymouth to get the ferry.

enjoy looking at the road books. i did  Very Happy

Hi
Just returned from a East to West trip over the Pyrenees. 10 days in all.
Great off roading as well we just used the tracks as we came across them. Asked some locals and they said it was ok to use and road unless signed Private or closed.
Was a little cool the one night got down to -3.4 but who cares with a belly-full of local wine inside @ 5 euros for 5 lts.
