The tricky things with 60s is finding one that isn't a bag of rust.
You can get a reasonable 80 for £3-4,000 so not that much more than the 60 and you can always fudge the carnet side of things.
As for sand and turbos, well sand and any part of an engine is going to be an issue so just make sure you have a good air filter (the Toyota Paper filters are pretty ontouchable in this area) that you blow out regularly and consider fitting a snorkel with a Donaldson pre-cleaner on it.
I still maintain that if overlanding from the UK, nothing really can touch an 80 in terms of ability, comfort, value for money, reliability, etc _________________ Cheers,
