Here's one I did earlier
This was from a company called wavecrest based in the UK in beginning Jan 2009....
Many thanks for your enquiry earlier today regarding shipping to South
Africa. We can indicate the following shipping costs based on current
tariffs -
1 x Toyota Land Cruiser (must be in running order with valid V5
registration docs) - roof rack may need to be removed to fit into a 20'
container
Ex our depot Gravesend, UK to port Cape Town or Durban, South Africa
UK handling (including export customs clearance & loading into a 20'
container)
- GBP 595
Freight
- USD 1535 per 20' container
NB - the above prices exclude marine insurance and local
handling/clearance costs/import taxes/duties etc at destination
ALL BUSINESS IS TRANSACTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH BRITISH INTERNATIONAL
FREIGHT ASSOCIATION 2005 TERMS AND CONDITIONS _________________ 2001 Colorado D4-D - BFG-AT's, OME, snorkel, ASIFR plates
Was preparing for Overland - but unexpected baby has delayed that - NOTE - delayed not cancelled |

Olazz,
Check my quote - £595 for loading fees - + $1500 shipping, and then you need to clear it in SA as well - probably about the same as the UK handling fees again, so your one is cheaper if they included that!!

Hmmm next question!!!
My wife fell pregnant unexpectedly so we have delayed the trans-africa trip for at least 18 months. We are still doing it, but it'll be with a rugrat now. Gotta take it when it's not too mobile - so I hear....
We are doing a consolation trip in May/June to Eastern Europe for about 5-6 weeks. Planning to venture into Bosnia/Serbia to check out some of their dodgy roads/tracks, and get our fix for 'travel to unusual places'. Not looking forward to the Serbian insurance sting - apparently about 250 euros for a month, and thats the shortest they do one for, and it's mandatory (obviously). Only us UK bods get stung by it though - typical...
I'll do a report when it's done - assuming there is anything interesting to report of course - if we don't find any decent tracks I won't bother - unless people want campsite info etc..
If anyone knows of good places in those countries - I'm all ears!!!
Cheers
