That Thread is brilliant... nice one Crispin!
It always looks easy when you see the pics... now that I know what to expect I feel much more at ease... although looking at the TNS300 replacement instructions I'm not sure if the Xcarlink by itself will do as looking at the diagram it seems like all ports on the back of the stereo are being used due to the satnav ... does this mean I would need a seperate lead ???
Perhaps Marlot might be able to help out on this one... eventhough his system is different to mine as he has the full DVD screen satnav whereas mines just the turn by turn one...
Regards

ASAIK, they do sell a Y cable which allows you to use both. I may be wrong but I seem to recall a "spare" plug on the back of the TNS300. Don't quote me though. There are plenty on the back... Real rat's nest. _________________ Cheers,

Yet another thing I forgot to mention, the bolt holding in the radio harness (Mid way down on the left, adjacent the aircon controls) the bolt is purely to hold the plug together. It's a rather large plug. Do not, as I did, and tighten the screw while talking to someone else. There was a sickening cracking sound as it got tighter and tighter. Backed it off and all still works ok but the plastic seems very brittle. Be gentle with it. _________________ Cheers,

Gary, I've a query away to them about compatability. I'll post here with the response if you can hang on a bit. The LC5 is a bit more complicated with the touch screen controls and all. |
Any feedback from the query, NC? _________________ I'll be more enthusiastic about encouraging thinking outside the box when there's evidence of any thinking going on inside it.

Thanks for your enquiry. Do you happen to know the model of the factory unit, or would it be possible to send us a photo of it?
Thanks |
Haven't done that yet but I'm not that confident in their response. Almost like it was news to them. I just need a mo and take a piccy. Won't forget. Promise. _________________ '04 KDJ120R LC5. Died 17th Dec 2010. RIP. |

Hi All,
Would the xcarlink be of use in an LC3 ?
as many will know, the LC3 just has standard single disc effort.
perhaps a music system (or combined sat nav ) which I can load in MP3 content is the way forward.
Suggestions please.

Hey Vette,
if you go to the Xcarlink Website and put in your LC year of birth... it will come up and show you which unit would be suitable, further you can click on the compatability link and there are a whole bunch of pics of different Toyo radio/cd systems...
I've checked and there is a pic of my system in there, the only thing I have'nt done yet is check to see if I have any ports available for the Xcarlink adapter. I've got the naff turn by turn sat nav in mine so will have to see if any ports are left available, I believe there should be a CD changer port where the Xcarlink adapter connects to. Should believe that your radio would also have one....
Hope that kinda helps...
Regards

Fitted unit last night and works a treat!!!
Not much space behind the radio but managed to squeeze it behind the bit where the seat heat switches are... kinda snug but does the job.... well worth the 75 quid... oh and the loomb which came with it had a splitter bit so integrated satnav still works !
regards
