Depends on the profile. SHould say on the sidewall 275/XX R16 or 265/XX R16. What are them missing numbers?
As far as the width is concerned, won't make any difference. |

Will make a bit of a difference to the speedo reading, it willl be even further out than normal but will at least be on the right side. With 275s on mine the speedo is about 10% out on the up side so when it says 80mph it's actually about 72mph measured on a GPS. so yours will probably be about 12-13% out with 265s. Accelleration will be better, however higher revs at speed may mean different fuel consumption - maybe worse maybe better. _________________ 1999 Land Cruiser Amazon VX Active 4.2TD Auto

No, they really need to all be the same size and profile. |

Went to a 4 x 4 specialist today and they said different size tyres on the front & back are a big no no Need to replace all four so the circumference is the same on both axles so they will all wear evenly. Probably this tyre size is the reason for my auto box problems

On stuff like the 80 series that have an open centre diff, then in theory differing sizes shouldn't make to much difference. That's why we have differentials, to cope with different rotational speeds. If you think of the axle diffs, the wheels on each side will very rarely turn at the same speed.
Where it is really important is on micky mouse 4X4's that don't have a proper diff, rather some sort of clutch arrangement that looks for differing speeds in order to move drive from predominately front wheel drive to four wheel drive when it thinks the fronts are spinning. ie. Land Rover freelander. |

Had four new 275/70/16's fitted today and my gearbox problems have gone, it does not hold on to gears when you let your foot off the gas, it now freewheels as it should, drives great. just shows you what the wrong size tyres on one axle can do.
