Hi Folks,

Is it really not possible to deactivate the passenger airbag or curtain?

I want to put the baby seat in the front but cannot find a way to turn it off. The manual says nothing and the stickers on the dash state you must not put baby there. All that makes me think you cannot turn it off. Bummer.

I've got a rear-facing baby seat with isofix in the middle of the 2nd row. Works well and still leaves space for an adult either side.

We already have the whole setup. All wanted was a spare base for the existing kit. That way is easy for me / wife to swap cars etc. and £30 for the base instead of the full whack for the seat.

I suppose though it's not the end of the world if you don't have swappable seats. Only use it for 6 months anyway then the baby can sit in the back of the bakkie Neutral

Just another thing my wife can tease me about "My Alpha acn switch it off, yours cannot!"
Alpha's will probably break anyway Smile

No, can't be turned off. I suppose a fuse could be pulled though.
Some manufacturers allow it, like Renault and VW, some don't. PITA too.

I would agree PITA. Seems silly. Don't want to pull a fuse though. I would still like the softness of an airbag over the unfriendly texture of the steering column. I may like Toyota, don't want their logo branded in my face though. Mad

Pulling a fuse doesn't necessarily mean that both bags switch off. Have you checked?

Just had a butchers in my manual. Fuse 33 seems to be the one and all it says is 'SRS airbag', suggesting that one fuse does do the lot. Bummer.

ISOfix is yer only man. It's what I use for all three scaldys! Can't alway use the three at once mind you and the oldest is over the 18kg weight anyway. Funny how manufacturer's mostly only put 2 ISO mounts on the rear seat when a lot of parents have three youngsters....Not many cars can fit three seats side by side in the rear either, one of the reasons I chose the LC (and even it's a bit tight!). No way was I going down the MPV route. Shocked

As all have said, the airbag cannot be switched off as such, if yes there would be a lock in place of the sticker where you could arm and dissarm the airbag.
However the sticker shows no rear facing car seats.... does anyone know if we can still fit forward facing kidseats in the front??? Or is this also a no no ?

No rear facing seats allowed with active front airbags. The handbook is very good with this info actually and well worth a look if you have it to hand. Best to keep junior in the rear.

Yeah I get the no rear facing car seats issue... however what about forward facing ones?

Oh also forgot to mention...

Those who do opt to disable the airbag/s and dont inform their insurance might find themselves in the brown stuff with the insurance companies should they have the unfortunate event of being involved in an accident...
