Drop steering wheel to lowest level
Remove 2 screws and drop the bottom cover under the steering wheel. Pull down slightly to unclip the 2 top pins that locate the centre panel above, either side of the steering column. No need to remove completely.
Pull off the centre panel which runs either side of the steering column. Unplug the Diff Lock & Mirror / Fog / Dash / Headlight switches, and put panel to one side.
Remove the 2 screws under the top of the instrument binnacle and gently prise forward, complete with both vent assemblies. There are 2 push on clips on the extreme end lower corners of the wood surround. Twist out and slide out behind the steering wheel, and put to one side.
Remove the 4 screws that hold the instrument cluster in place. Pull forward and twist so you can get behind the right hand side. You can now replace lamps, or:
Unplug the 4 plug in connectors and remove the instrument cluster – slide and spin forward to remove.
To get to the Auto selecter indicator, unclip the center panel and remove. Spare lamps are available in the unused slots.
Make sure you test all the lamps before re-assembly goes too far!
Once done it is not too bad a job, just be careful with the wood surround. |
