Well  then I am putting feelers out at the moment for an event I am thinking of organising.
I think there is not enough awareness and or money being raised for Lupus and Rheumatoid and with my website I am hoping to change this but I am thinking of organising something big....
Well I have started the organisation already a little bit...

Most of us will have heard of the Macmillan 4x4 UK Challenge (http://www.mac4x4.co.uk) I am thinking of organising something similar but bigger and better...

I am thinking approximately 3k miles through about 11 countries in 11 days.
It will be a non-speed event with probably 99 teams.
The event will be part competition, part off-road drive and part club-type social.
Whilst doing this we will be raising a good amount of awareness and of course money for Lupus and Rheumatoid research.

Every team will have 1 truck and a minimum of 2 members. Each team will have to raise a certain amount in sponsorship money towards the “entrance fee” and possibly their costs... the more money raised the better of course...
We will have a overnight camp together every night with a mix of campsites and some wild camps.

The road will take us through the UK then go to Holland to a little town called Valkenburg a/d Geul from where we will run down through, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland,  the French Alps then a fair amount of remote tracks to tackle in the Spanish and French Pyrénées ( greenlaning) or something like that.... I still have not figured out the precise route and stuff... The we will finish back in Dunkerque with a meal and the winners will be announced, various prices to be won....
I will make the exact route with tasks every day in order to gather points towards various bit of the competitive side of the run...

What do you all think would any of you be interested in something like this?
I was thinking in 2011 as 2010 is a little close to organise this proper..

I would love to take part in this. It is a good cause and sounds like it will be great fun. So yes get your thinking cap on, you have one here that would be willing to take part.

Hope you pull it off.

Thanks that is great I am getting good feedback everywhere...

So I have had a lot of thought about this and more people interested in doing the trip....
I think if the teams where to come up with the "travel money" say themselves like a nice holiday then that would interest sponsors more knowing that most of the money from sponsorship goes to the charity...
After all there is plenty of time till 2011 to get the money together.. nearly two years, less than a grand needed that is about £8 per week that needs saving..

I think the event will be a goer... A lot of Lupus people are going to be involved in the organisation and on checkpoints and so far 2 teams will be loopies.. I am going to have a chat to the fella that does the "fun" rally and see what he says...

Watch this space..... for more accurate calculations and more details    Cool

the regonal goverments of spain all have different laws governing green lanes - in Aragon (my area) only 3 cars are alowed per "convoy" without permission + lots of paperwork. we tent to get lots of tricked up french 4x4s around here and from time to time the local cops have a purge.having said that the pyrenees has thousands of miles of anazing routes

Hey all......
I am so glad to see that there is a fair bit of interest in this run.....
I am aware of the Spanish regulations and have therefore not planned much in Spain....

Team Chaos is also on board on this run after speaking to Colin over the weekend..

Grimbo: the website I mentioned before is run by me and this even will be organised via the website...
She might want to sign up and have a chat to people on there...

I am working on details and stuff so should hopefully be able to paint a clearer picture about this event soon-ish...
I am working on these things as and when I feel good enough....

I will let you all know soon.....
Hope everyone is well....
