Hi all,

I'm looking to get a set of waffle boards for my 120 - and have come across the TracMat website, as well as a few offers on flea-bay.  What size (thickness) should I get - 38mm or 50mm (there's not a huge price difference) - I guess 50mm because that covers all eventualities (i.e. maybe a fully kitted 80 or 100 and not just the kitted 120)?  Any other supplier I should rather look at?

I assume also that the longer ones are better - but obviously an increase in length comes at the price of increased flex.  The 1482mm long are also slightly wider than the 1200mm long, but at the same price.... well, almost!

Cheers

Gary

I'm a 50 man but I used to have 38's  Laughing The 38's never broke but they were very bendy and cracked a lot so I thought they probably weren't going to last too well and upgraded to 50's when I got the chance. My 50's are 1200 long and I've never wished for more length. Extra width can be harder to fit into the available space e.g. putting them in a rut to make a ramp out (yes I know what you were thinking  Laughing ) . How wide are the 1200 long 50's?

Thanks Jon

The size is 1200 x 308 x 50mm

or

1482 x 310 x 50mm

so not really much in it for width

NC - these are Waffle Boards (AKA sand ladders - but these are GRP not metal so easier to use):

used to get out of mud / sand / climb rocks etc.

I see they also do a similar bit to use as a jack mat - now that's smart - and at £8.50 will definitely get one - 308mm square x 38mm - more than enough for even a hi-lift base.

Laughing I think maybe they're the same width and the variation they measured was just manufacture tolerance? but I don't think 2mm is going to be a fit / no fit decider anyway  Laughing

Yep - think so.  Now to figure out where to keep them when they're not under the vehicle.  Maybe they can be bolted to the roof rack that's (almost) on its way ...

That way if I fail to keep the shiny side up I can at least go sliding along happily  Laughing  Laughing

Make a frame to fit them over the front of your windscreen. You'll look like a riot van  Razz

Crispin  Laughing

Ja - some folk have them mounted along the sides over the windows to keep sneaky hands out, but that looks a bit odd - like a riot van!!  Razz

I have the 50mms. They are on the roof. They actually make a very handy walkway up there, like that grating for catwalks. Very useful bits of kit, but they need to be easily accessible. Jon used to have them mounted inside his tailgate on the 80 which was really snazzy. Shop around. I got mine for about £70 the pair (genuine ones) some I have seen are £70 EACH!
