I bought this 1991 Landcruiser ll VX 'cos I thought they were ultra reliable. Imagine my amusement when I suddenly and without warning was unable to select any gear whatsoever-gear lever stuck in neutral!! Garage can't SEE anything wrong with the bits inside; it all works OK until they put the case back on and tighten it. Then it goes solid again. Does anyone have either (1) an idea or (2) a gearbox? Crying or Very sad

Any developments on this? I've only just seen the post. How good a garage is it? Gear boxes ain't that complex! Have they really had the box out without checking the gear lever and selectors first?

Does the gear lever move at all or is it stuck rigid? If it moves but won't select a gear then there's a good chance the trouble's at the bottom of the gear lever - possibly worn or broken selectors, maybe even gear lever broken at bottom (I've seen this on a Land Rover, a Suzuki and a Rover Mini - though that's slightly different).

Try to find out exactly what they did, and get back if not fixed.
