I have a Landcruiser and the front suspension is not damping. I am concidering changing from the hydraulic units to standard springs and dampers. Has anyone done this? If so where did you purchase the kit and was it a difficult task?

Hi, yes I have changed from a faulty hydraulic system to an Old Man Emu kit
I think places like www.tbruk.com should be able to help with supplying the kit
I did the change on a drive way, we needed a few tall jacks and at least 4 axle stands, it took most of a day to complete. I went the whole hog and removed all the old system including the pump header tank under the bonnet the four spheres on the chassis rails and all the plumbing.
I have been very happy with the new system, however I did not get to try a working hydraulic system so can't really compare

I've yet to drive an OME etc truck e.g. hydraulics removed but I've read a handful of comments on ih8mud suggesting it's quite a harsh ride compared to a working AHC set up, especially around town. It probably depends how much weight you will be carrying and what rear springs you fit (not many choices for the front) because IMO most if not all of the after market shockers are designed to work with stiffer than OEM spring rates. If you do swap let us know what you think of it.
