Hello!

I hold a GMDSS GOC, Global Maritime Distress Safety System General Operators Certificate, and was wondering if i'd need to sit any tests to get an amateur's licence being licensed to use commercial kit? Anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you need to start with the foundation exam. Well that is what I know.

Hi Chris,

Yes you need to take the Foundation exam - Nice and easy , my mates 7 yr old daughter passed it ( I think she may be UKs youngest). Best bet is to get the RSGB foundation course book and see what you think. The book is on e bay or RSGB website (make sure its latest edition though)

good luck
