We have set our dates now for 2010, is anyone else going who wants to discuss routes / maybe meet up for a beer when over there?
Should be in Campsite Azilan, Chefchaouen, Morocco on Monday 19th Apr then heading south hopefully as far as the Assa to Smara piste and then maybe hit the coast and head back North, staying back at the same campsite on Wednesday 12th May. |

Route done now (if anyone is interested) Think there is around 800 miles of desert from before Zagora to Laayoune
Stopped planning at Sidi Ifni because time will dictate the rest, so will decide when there.

Hi 24seven,
Can you post up a map of your planned route ?
or perhaps a city by city 'aka dot to dot' of your plan?

24Seven - if you email me the file, I could host if for all to download. Might save one people PMing you with a "please email" etc.

Thanks for the offer but for various reasons I would rather not pass the detailed route on to people I don't know from here. (at least until I get back anyway ) |

Matt, if you are going that far South, make sure you spend a night here.
GPS co ords N29 32 25.2 W10 03 48.5
It is a superb place to chill out and the beach is far from crowded
Keep an eye out for the police around Tan Tan, and if you see a stop sign, make sure you stop at it even if it is in the middle of nowhere.... if you don't you will find yourself 400DH lighter as dibble leaps out from behind a bush |

Cheers Paul, added the waypoint and will look out for the Police around Tan Tan.
What were your routes like on the 19th 20th and 21st? I'm looking for an interesting way from Sidi Ifni to Casablanca (My Friend wants to visit) and if time allows we may head back towards Marrakech and hopefully get some pistes in before Casablanca. |

I'm sitting in campsite in southern Spain, did 3700 miles in Morocco and Western Sahara and the only fault is a dented exhaust, these Toyota's are built well
(I will try and upload a photo in a bit.) |

Welcome 'back' Matt, I was tracking your locations and when there was nothing since the 6th I wondered where you'd got to |

We parted from Tony on around the 4th, he went North, we went East up the High Atlas and then into the Eastern Area around Rich.
Last nights connection died, I'm 40 miles North of Madrid atm, here is a sample picture
My mates LR gearbox gave in today, I'm guessing it's on the back of a Lorry heading for Bilbao ATM

.
Unlucky,
Not a nice place to break down.
Old landrover or new one?
Any symptoms, or just a failure?
