Hi Guys. Am planning a trip to Oman having done some desr driving there in the past. Have got a quote for a Landcruiser out there (my vehicle of choice)....its a Landcruiser 4500 (1-3 yrs old). What am I going to be getting with this model....any views on it? Also, does anyone have any experience of desert driving in Oman or can suggest any useful links? Lastly, I know I will need to take out some spare parts (belts etc: with me as the rental company says they cannot supply. Will UK dealers be able to provide (if I give model spec)?
Thanks

Landcruiser 4500 is a Petrol Landcruiser 80 series. 4.5 litre petrol.

Done a bit of driving in Oman, main thing, if you are on sand drop the air pressure in the tyres and watch out for the weather or check the previous couple of days weather if you are going into the Wadis - flash floods are not unknown, A friend got killed in one a few years back.

Do a search for Off Road Oman, there are a few sites out there with more details.

Oman is a great country with some fabulous scenery and great off roading.

Take a shovel, lots of water (drinking and for the vehicle), oil, fan belts etc.

Also go slowly over the rocks, the LC might be built like a tank but those rocks can break your steering if you aren't carefull.

There are also plenty of sites offering 'equipment' suggestions......the tool kit, spare belts, spare parts I am hoping to get form a Toyota dealer when i get out there. What parts would you take?
