|
|
I was a bit suprised when I realised the body mounted rear light clusters (with 6 bulb positions) only had 1 reversing light and 1 fog light connected.
I have changed mine using BMW E36 indicator bulb holders (they require a 26mm dia hole with 2 opposing slots filed).
I now have both reversing lights working, I fitted 2 side/tail light bulbs in the base (horizontal section of the fog light case) and changed the fog light positions to brake lights, I will now mount a seperate fog light, either on the spare wheel centre or under the bumper (any good ideas?).
When I came to modify the O/S fog light I found it has a reflector moulded within to aid fog light intensity (this was removed using a Dremel and cutting a neatish flap (re-attached with small cable ties) out of the rear fog light shell.
All of the required voltages are present at the multi-plug behind each light cluster.
I have also fitted indicator bulbs in the spare positions (awaiting connection as the voltage is not present at the multi-plug).
So in I will end up with Reversing, brake, tail and indicator lights both sides. |

I take it you are talking about a 90 series?
I did the son-in-laws rear lights using fittings from a Alfa Romeo believe it or not. Five quid all in from the scrap yard and about an hours work.
At least I can see him now when we do our night time green laning _________________ Les

Its a 2002 Colarado, is that a 90 series? Ive just connected the indicators so all 8 bulbs working now.
I wonder if someone will start doing it as a kit or maybe demand isnt that great. |

90 and Colorado and most Prado are the same thing.
The 90/Colorado come without the upper rear lights working for the most part but the import Prado lights do work.
Something to do with the spare wheel on the rear door I believe.
My wife has an import SWB 90/Prado as well as her 80 series and her upper lights on the Prado do work.
I doubt there would be a call for kits. _________________ Les
