Connect positive and then negative jump leads, and that's it.

Thanks Andy. As you know it's got the 2 batteries, and looking into the engine bay from the front the right battery i believe is the slave for the 24v starting circuit. Do i connect the +'s and -'s of this battery with the same on the VW passat 12v car battery i have to jump it from? I don't want to fry the passats' electrics!, but i need engine running to get the required umph.

It's 12v starting so it doesn't matter which battery, only the 80 series have 24 v switchover systems.

OK, so i guess that when i start the engine, a relay connects the batteries into series momentarily and sends 24v to the starter motor. Is that right?
Thanks for clearing this up Andy, it's simple stuff i know, as the description says....i'm a newbie.  Shocked

Lets go back a bit, this is the 100 series section, so it has 12v starting, and as I said only the 80 series has 24v start.

Thanks for the help with clearing this up.
