My local motor factors initially sold me 10 litres of 10w 30 mineral To do the trucks next oil change - whereas I have previously been sold and told by them to use 15w 40 semi synthetic - I then took the 10w 30 mineral back but they no longer sell 15w 40 semi and insisted now that 10w 40 semi would be fine

In the Toyota handbook it states Use API CF-4 or CF, (you may also use API CE or CD)
It then lists 20w 50,15w-40,10w-30 and 5w 30 as all being suitable

The 10w 40 semi states on the container ‘’ ACEA A3,B3, A3/B4, API SL/CF.......

I took a look at what roughtrax have on their website as being the right oil for the KZTE and it states
‘’API SL/CF ACEA, A1/B1 A5/B5’’

Am I going to damage the KZTE’s oil seals if I use the 10w 40 semi ?
Have read on other posts that the KZTE is quite a ‘forgiving’ engine when it comes to oil specs

Am I being over cautions here or what?

Thanks in advance for any advice

Best

Just about anything within reason will do I reckon. I've been happy to use good quality mineral, or branded semi-synth of various grades (mainly 10/40 or 15/40, )... whatever was available cheaply at the time. Sometimes the really cheapo stuff when cash has been tight. I do 5000 mile changes.

Cheers DiggerDave for your reply - good to see that you have used 10w 40 in the past
