Hi All,
Of late when left unused for a week or more my batterie(s) run down. As perhaps both batteries may not be faulty, I wish to fit an isolator switch to take one out of circuit and thus be able to confirm the individual health.
The most appropriate switch will only fit the negative terminal. Am I correct in thinking that if I fit one of these (to the Neg terminal) that battery will be isolated, as it will then not be part of a completed circuit even though the parallel Pos link remains in place?

Hi Dafydd,
Yep that will work - in fact the negative will be the best to do it on.
Make sure the switch can handle a decent amount of current when its turned on.
Personally I think I'd just disconnect the negative from each battery in turn and tie it back out of the way somewhere - switches etc seem like a lot of work for a test.
Probably more likely though is that you've got a parasitic drain - something unexpected using power when you think its turned off. Have you got a multimeter and/or clamp meter?
Let us know how you get on - good luck! |

Hi Karl,
No i've only got a volt meter (used for elec fence checking and batteries) but will disconnect the batteries in turn and see if either of them hold their charge over a few days..
Thanks, I'll post any result when known.
