As you covered it Wooly, you may consider drilling a tiny hole in the plastic, to stop the crack spreading.
Hambo, there are specialist tailor made dash mats for these, as sun and heat has a great effect. Unfortunately the come from other countries, which involve taxes, vat and shipping

No worries Wooly. Of course what I should have said was "at each end of the crack", but I'm sure you picked that up.

Thanks will give it a try & look for a dash mat or a sun screen it’s so frustrating watching it split in front of your eyes

With the sun screen/shade, check dimensions and look for one for a van or truck. Car versions are too small, also get a rigid concertina folding one, the flexible folders tend to flop and sag.
Tailored dash mats you can Google,  Landcruiser 120 dash mats. Not found a supplier in this country, as yet, so vat, import duty and all the other twaddle kills it.

There are plenty of dash mats for sale on e bay , just type in toyota landcruiser j120 dash mat . but like traction man said , I also put a sunscreen (hard folding type cost about 2 euros) in the window when I park in the sun it should give good protection , and I found those foil ones are flimsy and bend and fall down after a few minutes setting the alarm off , I also use dash protector spray by a company called car magic cost 1 euro for a 200ml bottle it is white liquid and looks like milk ,  I use it about three times a year which leaves a silky look to the dash and spay it on the rubber door seals so it leaves the dash looking brand new and has a nice sent to it so it doubles up as a air freshener (I dont like the ones that leave a glossy Finnish it makes the dash look cheap quality) I also use the same car magic tyre protector spray 2 euros for 500ml , it looks the same stuff as the dash spray but without the nice smell , say on the bottle of both that it protects from  cracks from UV and heat damage  ,   the
same company  also do a headlamp lens cleaner for 1 euro for 200ml, these are common products here in Cyprus  at a big store  called JUMBOS that have stores in every town in  Cyprus, I think I sent traction man pictures of these products about 9 months ago . so if any of you go to Cyprus for a holiday be sure to pop into jumbos and get some lol.

Tony, did Jumbos open a new branch in your garage, you've got it all in there ?
Yep, always got useful info from you over there. Over here, I use a dash spray by Car Plan, sounds like it has all the benefits of yours.
Some of those dash sprays/cleaners leave an awful stickiness and a shiny surface, - not something I want.

I agree I hate the sticky or gloss Finnish on the dash , makes dash or interior look cheap and nasty .

Agree mate, all the dust and pollen stick to it, and make it look worse and do nothing at all to enhance or protect.

Used to be able to get lots of the sort of products Tony is talking about from Lidl, tyre/rubber treatment and the 100/1 washer fluid detergents additive i particularly liked, and their windscreen washer anti freeze was the dogs danglers, but haven't seen any of their car care products for ages though confess i stopped shopping there so things might have changed.

That dash stuff talked about, i use AutoSmart's 'Finish', does a lovely job of external plastics too.
