Well done Karl, good lesson.
Daffyd, you may find it easier to print off as you said, and get someone to read off the next steps as you're ready for them.
I know from experience it's difficult to focus on lots of info and operations all at once (Thanks Karl)
Concentrating on what youre doing while someone reads off the steps to follow will give make it easier.
You've got through the 'worst', not far to go now. |

Hi Karl,
After several failed attempts, SUCCESS, remotes work. Each time, the steps 1 to 10 operated as expected but no remotes. Then tried NEW key instead of OLD in step 11 and presto! it worked. So your instructions are correct except for step 11 (for your records and anyone else needing help)
Many thanks Karl, you've persevered with me.
TM, if only, I am on my own here sadly, but managed to read & activate by total concentration, & succeed with Karl's invaluable help.

It might be elementary, but it would be a good idea if all those with Series 120 TLc s printed off a copy of Karl's instructions and inserted them in their instruction book, as I have, since we know they actually work.
The more widely known the instructions are the better, and it will save owners having to resort to overcharging 'specialists'.

Hi Dafydd,
Great! Can you clarify which steps need changing, and I'll edit the original post so that we're not dishing out mis-information here!!! Someone else might find this thread in 10 years!
Also, check your invoice from the key place for the KEY CODE. If they haven't supplied it you can email and they will give it to you, which you can then record in your handbook. I think Toyota originally supplied the key code with the vehicle but they've mostly been lost.
You don't really need it as you can get it cut to the VIN, but as they have already found the info to cut the key, why not have it and record it in your docs. |

Hi Karl,
Changes I found successful, (to the best of my memory!) :-
Transponder programming, Step 3. Open & shut door 7 times. Step 4. .....insert new key, TURN IGNITION ON for
60 secs.
Remotes programming, Step 12. Put the NEW key in....... Step 13. Omit 'close door', (its already closed)
Yes, Tyneside Autos wrote the key code on my invoice and I've written it in my handbook, and they cut the key from the Vin No I supplied in my order. As you say the key code was originally on a small metal tag attached to the keys with a new vehicle with advice in the handbook 'to make a note of the number'. |

Ahh, that little metal tag, nearly always missing. Can create all sorts of problems with some that will only cut to code.
I wonder if admin can log the procedure as a 'sticky' ? |
