On my ML I used a icarsoft reader which was great at finding all the myriad failings of the car.
Has anyone used this type on the LC?
Is there a preferable reader?
With all my stripping of the front inside fitting the head unit and reversing camera it has occurred to me that I don’t remember seeing the socket for the reader.
Anyone know where I can find it? |

The socket is just under the fuse box on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
To get the maximum data, you'll want to use Techstream on an old (dedicated) laptop, or use a Denso Intelligent Tester 2 if you need a stand alone unit.
You can get some limted data from other scanners - I had another unit which wasnt bad and could read most of the systems - forget the name but theres a bunch of threads either here or on LCC.
Generic OBDII ones don't work on these early vehicles |

Just found it - Autel Maxidiag MD805 - I'm not recommending it specifically, but it did work for me - I used it to scan the LC before I bought it. |

It seems that Techstream is the best way to talk to my car; can anyone recommend a safe place to get a copy.
Karl, why do you say old dedicated laptop? I have a laptop with Win 10 on it, but I also use it for plugging into SWMBO's Triumph Street Triple and it runs s/w for setting up carbs on bikes.
The Autel is a bit out of my price bracket at the moment At a push I could run to an iCarsoft V2; the v3 for the ML was excellent. I would like to dig into the data history of the car as much as possible and it seems that Techstream will tell me the most. |

Only saying dedicated because all the Techstream copies are hacked versions and I wouldn't trust any computer after installing it.
Probably fine on your bike computer it you can get it going on win 10, but don't put it on your main computer you use for internet, email, banking etc |

Given my network is key to earning a few quid to keep the wolf from the door, it’s probably not worth the risk. I’ll invest in an iCarsoft assuming it’s as good on the LC as on the ML 😃 |

Yep better safe than sorry
How much is the icarsoft? I bought a denso intelligent tester for about £200 I think. Does all Techstream does plus has a few multimeter features for fault finding.
Not particularly recommending it though and no idea how much they are these days.
Remember you could always get a cheap £100 laptop and Techstream for ,£20 or whatever - that might end up cheapest even if you dedicate a box to it. |

Hello Karl2000 does the Denso intelligent tester allow you to code new injectors / input the compensation values or do you still need Techstream for this? |

Yep, you can do it on the IT2. My understanding is that the IT2 can do everything that Techstream can. |

Thanks, Karl2000, where is a reliable place to buy a genuine one?
Prices vary wildly from £200 to £500 including being available from Amazon and e bay. This makes me think there are plenty of Knock-off versions being offered. |

Can't really offer any advice on that unfortunately. I checked and I got mine from e bay a while ago, but can't see any on there now from that seller.
Not sure if mine is genuine or not, but it works fine! |

I have just been doing some research and the iCarsoft CR Pro will do injector coding, £259 from Diagnostic World

I like the look of that - do you know it definitely works on the early 120s? |
