I took out my front nearside ABS sensor today - it came out in several pieces! Finally got it all out with dentist tools and ordered a new sensor - but was surprised I couldn't anything like a pulse ring or see an ABS ring through the sensor hole? I turned the axle but its all a smooth machined surface in there! Should I panic at the entire ring having corroded away to nothing - without leaving the slightest trace - which must be unlikely - or have I simply misunderstood how the wheel speed sensor works on my car.  Question Incidentally its a 2005 Landcruiser D4D, LC4.Auto.

The abs ring on a 120 is a magnetic ring not visible inside the front wheel bearing

Yep don't worry, as Tony says magnetic ring, and not visible from there, you can only see them if you pull the hubs.

You're welcome. That should have read when you pull the discs, that's when you expose the ring in the hubs, but you're ok anyway.
