Can anybody recommend a supplier of a reconditioned/exchange transfer box for my 2005 Auto? The box whines in low ratio but seems quite happy in high? Alternatively I'm happy to tackle the job myself if anybody recognises these symptoms and can tell me that the fix is straightforward?

Dave

Can anyone direct me to an online reference that shows the transfer box components on my 2005 auto ? Once again I find that the Haynes manual isn't very helpful in this regard. Having thought about the symptom, and the realisation that the noise only occurs with low box engaged, I'm bound to consider that the box contains some kind of planetary gear which offers the two speed options? As the car has only covered 37k miles from new - and lived its life in Westminster - Perhaps somebody has tried to engage this device when moving and done the damage? In any case I am thinking that this might be the culprit?   In any case I would appreciate seeing some kind of exploded diagram of the unit - or ideally a guide to stripping one - before I actually start taking the thing apart.

Can anybody direct me to some online reference that may show an exploded diagram of the transfer box in my 2005 Auto please? I begin to suspect some kind of planetary gear as the culprit, possibly caused by attempts to engage low box whilst moving as its only done 37k miles from new??? Lived its life in Westminster and has no towbar fitted....
