|
|
Hi,
Newbie on the forum, I have a J120 LC4 with only rear parking sensors. I’ve read a few threads about rear parking sensors playing up. Mine are constantly on when in reverse. Are there any aftermarket sensors that anyone can recommend?
Alternatively, and probably the most likely solution. Can I de-fuse these sensors to stop the noise pollution?
Thanks

Hi Yozza and welcome.
The parking sensors front and rear, have been a constant source of annoyance to many 120 owners, me included.
Mine were such a pain, I permanently disconnected the fronts and switched off the rears.
On some models there is a small rocker switch in the open storage cubby just forward of jack storage area, this controls the rears.
I can't personally recommend any aftermarket, as being an ex class 1 hgv driver, I have learned over the years being careful, I can live without them.
The ones fitted by Toyota are 'aftermarket' anyway, they are not branded by Toyota, borne out by someone who went to main dealer for spares, which they are unable to supply.
There are some owners that have fitted other types, hopefully someone can recommend. |

Good advice from TM! I disabled mine long ago too.
If you havent got a switch, consider unplugging its brain / ECU - that will kill it! The so called Toyota ones are powered off the back of the 12v cig lighter if I remember correctly - I think they have a fuse but its an inline one and not in the main fuse box.
A better alternative might be a reversing camera! |
