|
|
I'm finding it really hard to get the front exhaust pipe for my Landcruiser. It has broke at the front of the cat. I can get mid and tail sections from Milner but they don't supply the front piece currently. I can find the piece for up to 2004 but I am told it is different.
I'm not bothered if it is cat or straight through.
Could any one point me in the right direction please?
Many thanks |

Hi Hoot,
You may find if you delete the cat, i.e straight through, it may fail the mot if the mot inspector spots it as non standard and may fail on emissions ? |

If you can't get the part, and it's not one I've looked for, then I would take the LC to one of the exhaust specialists that make bespoke systems. I doubt it will be much dearer. If I remember correctly the law was recently changed to make it illegal to removal any environmental control that the vehicle was originally fitted with. This catchers removal of DPF filters and the like which were (still are?) a very popular modification. I also hear that CAT theft is very widespread and the LC will be an easy target. I've seen the suggestion to weld a cage over it but not sure it would stop a Stihl saw. |

Hoot, could you weld it or have a welder/fabricator make up a section to fit ?
Beekeeper, nothing stops a stihl disc cutter, especially in the hands of police on your front door, - don't ask. 😁 |

I keep a few sections of sound pipe exactly for that reason. Haven't read one sensible suggestion to prevent the CAT theft. Welding the bolts - as if they're going to unbolt it anyway; and parking next to a wall to make it difficult to jack up - I don't think they care about bashing your car on the wall. The LC is a target though as the CAT is in the pipe run rather than on the manifold. |

Agree. For diy, various diameter and angle bends are available off e bay.
Just one section of pipe would be handy if you caught anyone up to no good !
I think these scroats use cordless angle grinders for ease of transport and use, not quite so heavy or noisy as a stihl.
Fortuneatly, I don't have a cat on mine. 😁 |
