In the early1980s me and my mates spent every sunday working on at least one of our cars , thats what friends are for .

Same here Tony, that was our 'apprenticeship'.and it just developed from there, working in the wet or dark, so the vehicle was good for work next day. Lending/pooling tools which we always got back in those days.
Generations after us think they're hard done by if the nob falls off their joystick (playstation😀) and have to have councilling !
