I have an automatic gearbox fault on my 2008 LC120. Symptoms are:
•Reverse will not engage, in fact it rolls like in neutral.
•All gears illuminate on dash and gear selector when in reverse.
•2nd start illuminating by itself on and off irrespective of whether the button is depressed.

This fault has appeared after reconnecting the batteries after being disconnected for 6 months. Batteries were connected to a maintenance charger over winter.

So far I have read the fault codes with an Carsoft OBD scanner and the codes associated with the TCM (transmission control module) are as follows:
•P3000 - Battery control system
•P0003 - Fuel volume regulator control circuit low
•P0400 - Exhaust gas recirculation flow

The codes cannot be reset. I have disconnected and reconnected both batteries, main connections checked, fault still there.
All gearbox plug connections checked.

I’m thinking potentially grounding issue somewhere….

Any thoughts or experiences will be much appreciated.

Fixed! There was a bad earth located on the bracket of the injector control unit. Cleaned the bolts and bracket to chassis and now the gearbox works correctly.

Quite a critical earthing point.

Cheers,

Mike
