|

Any one got any ideas how to stop my front leaf springs from creaking when turning steering? The leaves seem to slide slightly over each other. Just a bit annoying!
U bolts are as tight as they can be . _________________ 1990 HZJ75 trayback ute

Buy a can of aerosol spray grease, or motor bike chain lube and give the springs a real good squirt. |

Tried that, wished I hadn't as it made them slip and creak even more! _________________ 1990 HZJ75 trayback ute

They are worse when wet too !
Only really creak when turning from lock to lock and as I've got very wide tyres I don't suppose that helps. _________________ 1990 HZJ75 trayback ute

Normally you remove the spring, separate the leaves, clean and oil them . Put them back on with new u bolts and re torque a few weeks later.
The bands around the springs can be welded to stop them moving
If you lucky the creaking might go away for a while:D _________________ 1995 HZJ75 troop carrier
