There seem to be quite a few low-priced and well specified 80 series in the classifieds with petrol engines. Obviously a lot cheaper than diesels. Just wondering what the MPG figures are for these petrol models, and if they come anywhere near the 25-30mpg highway figure for the diesel ?

Frederick.
No they are nowhere near the diesel figures, expect less than 18 mpg - more like 15 around town if you are lucky.
The Petrol motors are great if you own an oil well - the engine is really good but will never be economical. This is why they tend to be cheaper when they get older than the Oil burners. _________________ 1999 Land Cruiser Amazon VX Active 4.2TD Auto

But use your head and get a gas conversion. Gas costs between 34p and 40p per litre. My conversion cost £1600, and paid for itself in 6 months. _________________ 1996 VX 4.5 Dual Fuel FZJ80 |
