Today I inspected a 4.2TD and walked away impressed except for the following:-

1 Sunroof not working. Can this be rectified easily, and are there any write-ups on diagnosis, either this forum or anywhere else ?
2 Rear wiper not working. Ditto above.
3 Some rust around rear window. I would expect this to cost £100-200 to reweld. Does anybody have any experience or comments ?
4 No a/c. Can this be retro-fitted and if so at what cost ?

The sunroof buttons were not buttons as such, but more a membrane that covers the switches hidden beneath. Other TLCs i've driven have an actual rocker switch.

I'm very tempted to make and offer, but would appreciate feedback from this forum.

I would suggest that the Sunroof is not an original Toyota one but an aftermarket fitment. Guess fixing it would depend on the make.

If it has no A/C then it is a base model not a VX. Retrofitting is possible but long, complicated and involves taking a lot of the interior apart.

You can generally pick up a second hand rear door in better nick and it would be easier than getting the existing one re welded.

Rear wiper not working is likely to be fuse, wiring on the motor (probably the motor or a wiring break. Should be easily fixable and you will probably find that the motor can be picked up at a scrap dealer off another motor - probably the same as a carina or something of that description.

Persoanlly I would walk away unless the rest of it is in immaculate condition.

Would have to agree with Andy on this one. Walk away.
Would expect to find a few problems when looking for a and would use them to negotiate, but no Air con and naff sunroof would make me decide
to walk away.
There will be others.
