Hi,
I am new to the site!.

A 60 series landcruiser i am thinking of buying has a knocking sound coming from the engine

The owner reckons

'it needs new connection rod and posslble crankshaft regrind and bearings'

Does anyone know where i might be able to get such work done and how much it might cost?

Also does anyone know of a good condition one (HJ60?) for sale?

cheers

John

Hi John. Its hard to say how much it will need once its in pieces. The crank and conrod may just be the tip of the iceberg. Good cranks(if the old one is too far gone) are no longer plentiful.
You also have to wonder what caused the knock in the 1st place. The 2H takes some patience as they are not too fast. Some drivers overev them and this could be a consequence of that.
Normally if they are looked after they get over 300000 miles.
Only buy it if you can handle the worst news

Ok. Thanks for the advice. Probably best to steer clear was my thought too.
Cheers
