Glad you finally got to find out - like I've been saying - stick on the right tyres and it's a whole different ball game in the 120  Laughing

Hi Gary, It sure is,
Putting on the big muds turned the whole 120 into a 'Jeckle & Hyde'

I have took the mud wheels off again now, and put my BFG AT back on.
I couldn't drive all the dime with the muds, I could feel every tread block hitting the tarmac !

I am sure in the mud, with locked diffs, she will be very capable ! I will find out sooner rather than later.
I don't mind going to the car wash, and a few quid in the 'power lance' for underneath, and wheel arches, then another fiver for the 'Gold' wash.

As long as I don't damage it, I don't mind too much.

Graham

I would probably advise taking some basic maintenenace tool's, tow rope's, first aid kits, fire extingushers, water etc. Also perhaps some of the easier servicable components, i.e. air filter's and definately a few fuel filters (tools to remove) incase you come across dodgy fuel on your travels etc. Even also some general fix it's, tie wraps, duck tape, jubilee's, radwell, fuses, I guess the list could go on and on.

I think if you search Ewan McGregor's long way down may be able to offer some expriences and help, but you would only need to take 1/2 of what they did to support their Patrol's Surprised)

Your just unlucky Crying or Very sad

Why don't you sell it on if it causing you that much grief ?

and get one without a sunroof, I really don't see the reason or need for a sun roof now there is full climate control.

And I would still drive mine down to Cape Town  Very Happy might be sooner rather than later,  Laughing

I am going to get it into Toyota (local Bently's in Warrington - 01925 822607 can not be faulted) for a regular service, plus I want them to look at the passenger front window, it 'gives a 'click' when it passes the half way down mark, it doesn't stop, just makes a click, so they can take the door card off and check it out for me.

Apart from that, nothing.

Shocked  SELL IT?  Shocked  After spending all this money on it!! - at least I know its history ... allbeit not good.

Its probably only worth around £8,000 - if that - so its worth more to me - especially as I've had it from new! Rolling Eyes

I might as well run it until warranty direct won't cover me any more/too expensive. Wink  and then down the scrap yard .... Confused  Confused

I'm in a bit of a pickle to comment on reliability, my engines coming out this week for my knocking noise, 03 LC5 with 40Kmls.

The only thing that's keeping my spirits up is I've had about 7 LC's and this is the first to give me a major headache and the Toyota dealer I've found seems to be a complete breath of fresh air, I hope it all comes good in the end and my faith is restored, fingers crossed currently.

Certainly for the trip your planning, the choice is clear.
