I think this has been touched on before.

In the rear pillar light cluster is the stop lights (top) and the reversing light. (bottom)
The remaining positions are empty.

the tail light and the indicator are in the poxy rear bumper lights.

I want to do the following, and ask opinions.

In the pillar brake light, remove the lamp holder, (single filament)  and fit a twin filament lamp holder, and extend the tail light wires to the pillar light cluster.

The middle light in the cluster has no lamp holder, so I was going to fit the removed brake light lamp holder, and fit it with orange bulb for indicator.

Are you still with me ?

So, brake light will still be top red position, but will be joined by tail light.
Middle clear position will be indicator, with orange bulb.
Bottom will remain untouched as the white reverse

Any one have any ideas if this should work ?

The bumper would all get 'filled in' and spray painted  and only contain the 2 x fog lights.

I want to get on with fitting this.
.

.
however this will obscure the rear lights unless I do some thing about them

I'm doing something similar with my upper clusters, but I have bought coloured LED units not bulbs. Easy enough to do once I get round to it.

Sounds easy enough but you may have MOT issues regarding rear hung spare wheel etc etc if you happen to MOT with a 'savvy' person.

Vette, there is already an open thread on this and as I understand it, not having the lights that it came with (in the bumper) contravenes the MOT. I'm leaving all of mine in, so it isn't an issue. I may be on the 90 forum somewhere. Only a couple of weeks ago. I'd go to your local MOTTER and ask them if they pass it with what you have planned. If not, can I have your bumper please.

OK, here are a few images,

This is the top lamp holder, which currently is just the brake light
.

.
On closer inspection, it is fitted with a double filament lamp holder, and even a double filement lamp 21w / 5 w
.

.

Where my text is shows where the connection is for the tail light, as it would be on the LC5,
This looks like it is quite easy, to extend, or re-route the tail light wire in the bumper to this point here.

This shows a common earth to all 3 lamp holders, bearing in mind the middle position, which would be the turn signal has no lamp fitted.
.

.
This shows the turn signal lamp holder.

.
At the moment this has no lamp fitted, and will be fitted with a 21w orange lamp.
.
The feed to this would either be extended from the turn signal lamp in the bumper,  or re-routed.

So it looks like just 2 wires are needing extending, 1 for a feed to the tail light, and 1 for a feed to the turn light.
All the lamp holders 'appear' to be present.

I am not sure of the 3 wires to the lamp holder in the middle position, obviously, 1 wire is earth, 1 is for brake light feed, and 1 is for reverse light feed.

I think the white is earth, the red/blk is brake feed, and the green/yellow is reverse light feed.

Note, none of the lamps are typical round base lamps, they are 'cap less' with the legs folded back on them selves, bit hard to explain, but any way.
