Found this company on the web:-
Damar Webbing Products
www.damarwebbingproducts.com
They do 8m Kinetic straps for just over £20. A lot better value than a KERR.
They have a stand at the British Indoor 4x4 show.
They can make them to any length.

Like the typo on their front page
'Lifting Slings,Recovery Straps and Offroad 4x4 Tow Traps.'
Thought the point was to get out of the Trap !!!!

I posted Damar on a link the other week. I used the kinetic strap last night recover a stricken pick-up from a ditch. It was brilliant. They are here in Chesterfield. I wanted a recovery strap. They said how long. You can 5km if you want! Ahh err, 30m? No problem, £1 per m. Wait 5 mins, we'll sew one up for you. They are lovely people. They will be at the British Indoor 4X4 show.

I have an 8 metre KERR that I bought from Paddocks.
It's never been used and now sits in the garage.
I bought a 5 metre strap from Damar and it's compact shape means it sits under the drivers seat.

Roger, got some very interesting techy data from Damar. I was looking at a yellow one (easy to see?) and they told me, in fact showed me, that the un-dyed plain white had more elasticity. Somehow they dying increased the friction and reduced elongation. I went for the white. It IS more slippery.

I'm up for that. Tree protector and 11 ton strap will do me fine! Who's going to arrange? Chris - oh, Chris... !!

That's what they told me, so I stuck with the white.

Great link ...
Anybody fancy asking them if they'll do a discount deal for Club members?

I'll drop in and see them when I go past. I had a good chat at Christmas. I got to use my 30 m strap at the weekend. And everything else in the truck to recover my quad from the bottom of a ravine. Took me an hour.

I was, when it broke down. It didn't crash. The battery went, so jumped it. Drove off, out doing what I do looking for deer when it stalled. I pulled the hand cord starter and it snapped. So I stripped it, rewound it and when putting it back together, the main spring snapped. Dead duck.
Long way down though and a long way from anywhere. Just as well I have a well prepared truck with all the bits and pieces! Still, my plasma is nice and tightly wound on the drum now.

All's well that ends well then.
Just had a nice afternoon in Gwydir Forest, pottering about.
I'll be polishing some scratches out in the morning i think - _________________ HDJ80, BFG AT's, grooved discs, OME 850/860's |
